Dr. Ebtisam Alkodwa is a distinguished scholar and educator with extensive expertise in Islamic studies, Quranic memorization, and tajweed—the rules of Quranic pronunciation. Her deep commitment and passion to the study and teaching of the Quran is evident through her impressive qualifications and achievements.
Dr. Alkodwa’s journey in Islamic scholarship began early in her life. She memorized the Quran with the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim, under the esteemed guidance of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jawhari, the Director of Quranic Affairs at Al Azhar Al Shareef in Cairo, Egypt. She completed her memorization and graduated in 1996, having recited the entire Quran from memory among leading scholars of Al Azhar Al Shareef, including Sheikh Abdel Fattah Madkour, Sheikh Mahmoud Al Tantawi, and Dr. Saad Al-Din Hassanein. Her exceptional achievement in Quranic memorization and recitation is further evidenced by her distinguished high chains of transmission in the holy Quran, highlighting her profound qualification to teach. In addition to her Quranic studies, Dr. Alkodwa pursued higher education in Islamic studies and teacher education. She earned a PhD from the American Open University in Washington DC, focusing on Islamic studies, and a Doctor of Arts in Islamic Teacher Education. Dr. Alkodwa specializes in various aspects of Islamic education, including Hifz programs (Quran memorization), Qari programs, tajweed (Quranic rules of pronunciation), and Islamic studies for learners of all ages.
